Walking, cycling, scooting or skating to school saves up to 0.8 tonnes CO2e a year

Walk, scoot or skate to school – anything it takes to get you off the road and onto the pavement. It's healthier for you, your children and the planet.

If you ditch the car to walk the (UK) average 1.5 miles to primary school you could save 0.35 tonnes CO2a year.

If you're switching from the bus, underground or overground rail will save less, but you'll still be making a significant difference.

Journeys to secondary schools are longer, averaging (UK) 3.4 miles so you stand (or cycle) to save up to 0.8 tonnes CO2e a year.
