Avoid flying and make the most of car ferry crossings to save on car hire costs at the other end of your journey.

If you're holidaying relatively close to home, driving and taking the ferry is a carbon saving option for families.

For a family of four driving 400kms and sailing 100kms instead of flying the impact is less than half that of flying, saving nearly half a tonne (426kg) C02e over the return journey.

If you're travelling alone, then flying has less impact than most cars, but rail and ferry would be a better option.
